Sassy Car Wash Bath Toy

Editorial Review

Rub-a-dub-dub, three cars in the tub! Forget rubber duckies and bubbles?bath time gets really fun when there are vehicles to be washed. This car wash activity set will hold baby?s attention long enough to turn her into a chubby raisin in the bath. An oval-shaped roadway features terry cloth sponges, bumps, squishy spinners, and a water-squirting nozzle. Bathers can scoop and strain water with the purple car, squirt water with the green car, and scoop and pour Read more…

Like many other bath toys, the Car Wash Bath Activity Toy has lots of features and options. The whole thing floats, each car has a different water effect (squirt, strain, pour), and the orange thing in the center squirts water onto the cars. There’s a piece that attaches at the high end that can “ferry” the cars around the tub — it will float with one of the cars on it. The hook at the low end is designed to hang — you can ‘park’ the cars in the net and hang the entire thing to dry. However, the hook is too small for a towel rack or tub spout, it would really only fit over coated wire items. The whole contraption is big, but fits fine when we have 2 boys in the tub. (I only mention this because some people don’t like big bath toys). The “car wash” squirty feature is hard to operate, especially for my 2 year old, and even somewhat for me! One thing that makes this toy unique is that it’s not a stereotypical water toy — it’s not a boat or aquatic animal. If your child loves cars, it may be a big hit — but otherwise, it’s just another bath toy: fun but not fabulous.

After reading some lackluster reviews, I went ahead and ordered this anyway, and am so happy with this toy! My wheels-loving 4 1/2 year old and his 18 month old little brother both just love this toy and now bathtime is a much looked-forward-to time of the day(!). My older son was a bit disapointed at first that none of the cars’ wheels turn, but after I explained that if the cars had axles, they might rust, he quickly got over his disapointment with the excitement of adding soap suds to the sponge pads to wash the cars and then shower them off, then up and around to do it all over again! Unlike in other reviews, my son has no trouble with the shower head; once I explained he had to give it repeated little squeezes, not one big squeeze, and doesn’t mind the tight fit of the cars through the pads, but of course he is older and able to understand explanations like these. My 18 month old loves to watch his older brother’s skill with the showerhead, and even hands him cars to ‘wash’, while he pours with the firetruck and squirts with the green car. They both like the up-and-down-and-around track, I like how the cars all neatly store inside while it drips dry from our shower caddy. It’s just amazing to have a toy that they can both enjoy and even share plus it stores well! How often does that happen?! Great toy!
